JORDAN, CHRISTINE "CHRIS" The death of Christine "Chris" Jordan occurred on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. Always a fighter, Chris slipped away surrounded by her loving family, laughter and tears at the Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton NB. Born in Kingsclear, NB on February 10, 1921, Chris was the last surviving child of the late Ralph and Agnes (Trail) Kilburn. She was the wife of the late Frederick Winslow Jordan and lived her life in Kingsclear, Nashwaaksis and Newmarket before moving to Risteen's Landing in Fredericton in recent years. Chris will be remembered for the beautiful quilts that grace the homes of her family and friends, as a gardener who could make any plant grow in her garden and who loved to share with other gardeners, as a cook who always remembered your favourite foods and would "just happen" to have made them on the day of your visit. Chris was a loving, proud and devoted mother, the best Grammy ever, a doting great-grandmother, a favourite aunt and a special friend to many. Her quick wit and humour always brought a chuckle and her favourite sayings will live on in our hearts and memories forever. Chris is survived by one son, Laurie (Twilla Reagon) of Upper Kingsclear and her daughter, Anne McLaughlin (Wendell) of Mazerolle Settlement; six grandchildren, Rod Jordan, Ron Jordan, Joel Jordan, Patty Jordan, Heather (Jordan) Keats and Angie McLaughlin-Cox; nine great-grandchildren, Alexander, Chase, William, Jorji, Holly, Emily, Nathan, Lucas and Cameron; several nieces and nephews, and her close friend, Rose Storey. She is predeceased by two sons, Gary and Dale Jordan; her brothers Charles, Douglas and John Kilburn; her sisters, Lillian Kilburn, Louise Connors, Kay Dorcas and Phyllis Kelly; and her daughter-in-law, Ann (Gallagher) Jordan. Visitation will be held on Thursday July 9, 2009 at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday July 10, 2009 at the Bishop's Funeral Home Chapel at 2pm with the Rev. Arnold Godsoe officiating. A reception will be held at the home of Laurie Jordan at 4595 Rte 102 Highway, Kingsclear immediately following the funeral service. Interment will be at the Kingsclear Kilburn Community Cemetery on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations can be made to the Kingsclear Kilburn Community Cemetery or a charity of the donor's choice.
