GOODINE, SARAH ANN It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the death of Sarah Ann (Dady) Goodine 89, of Fredericton, NB, on July 16, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Sarah was the oldest daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah (Hayes) Dady of Bethnal Green, London, England. She was predeceased by husband Owen Joseph Goodine; son Brian Joseph Goodine; mother Sarah Ann Dady, Father Joseph Dady; sisters Jessie Dady, Mary Cox (Bill), Marjorie Taylor (Charlie) and grandson, Matthew R. Goodine. Survived by children Bob S. Goodine (Gwen) of London, ON, Valerie Canam (William) of Fredericton, NB, Suzanne Beals (Gary) of Fredericton, NB, Estella Barton (Robert) of Fredericton NB, Colleen Parent-Meade (Michael) of New Maryland NB, Marie Piercy of Calgary, AB, Janice Ogden (Joe) of Rusagonis NB, Ed Goodine (Noella) of Fredericton, NB and Robbie J. Goodine (Tina) of Halifax NS. Sarah leaves behind five brothers: Joey (Joan), Albert (Ivy), Johnny (Pat), Teddy (Pat), Danny (Pat) and one sister, Kathleen Coster (Albert), all living in Europe. She was a Grandmother to 17 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Sarah came to Canada in 1946, as a PIER 21 war bride. She was a courageous woman, who volunteered to help with the War effort during the Second World War. As Cpl. Sarah Ann Goodine, she went to the front lines with the men as a gunner and cook. She demonstrated so many talents over her lifetime, including a homemaker extraordinaire, chef, nurse, gardener, handywoman, shoemaker, a seamstress who always kept all of her children well dressed for every occasion and multi-talented performer as a singer, musician, tap dancer and gymnast. Mom was an exceptional woman, who modeled a strong work ethic and taught us that it is your personal determination and will which make you succeed. She was a loving Mother who always knew how to make work fun. We will always remember hearing her sing while working in the kitchen. Her voice was so beautiful. She will be missed and remembered forever. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4 will hold a Tribute at the funeral home on Friday evening at 7:00 pm. Celebration of her life and Funeral Service will be at St. Dunstan's Church on Regent Street on July 18th, 2009 at 11:00 am, followed by burial at the Forest Hill Cemetery. Reception to follow.
