70, North Sydney It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Frank MacKenzie on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, while visiting in Halifax. Born in North Sydney, April 12, 1938, he was the son of the late Daniel James and Elizabeth Ann (MacInnis) MacKenzie. Frank worked with the rail crew as a section man with the CNR retiring in 1993 after 37 years of service. He loved to play hockey and was an avid hockey fan. He was a kind-hearted and selfless person who loved to laugh, a loving and devout father who dearly loved his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. Frank is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 40 years, the former Shirley Steele; his three children, Philip (Francine), Fall River, Elizabeth (Jason) Hodder, Howie Centre, and Sharlene MacKenzie, Calgary; two grandchildren, Daniel and David; one brother Donald, North Sydney. He was predeceased by his brother, John and sister, Pauline. Visitation for Frank will be held Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass to be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Church, with Rev. Jim Attwood officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
