EVANS, EFFIE ISABEL We announce the passing of our dear mother Effie Isabel (McLean) Evans on Tuesday, August 18th, 2009. Born in Charlo, NB December 4th, 1916 daughter of the late John C. and Winnifred (Dickie) McLean. Effie is survived by her children, Gail Spencer of Ottawa, Kathleen Kerwin (Richard) of Fredericton, Susan Daye (Ron) of Calgary, Pamela Evans of Fredericton, and Jennifer Evans (Jay Williams) of Toronto; her grandchildren: Adam, Andrew and Megan Spencer, Christine and Peter Marshall, Bronwyn, Jennifer and Cameron Daye, Luca Sciangola and great-grandchild Oscar Martin; her sister, Margaret Fawcett; brothers, Donald, Norman and Albert, several nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren, Tracey and Todd Kerwin. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald Elwood Evans, her parents, her sisters; Winnifred, Anna, Eva, Jean, Helen, Marion and Evelyn; brothers, Ralph, Aubrey and Murray and her son-in-law, Luigi Sciangola. Effie was always very proud of her family, their accomplishments and her Scottish ancestry. A talented pianist, she enjoyed sharing her love of music with her family and friends. A lifelong member of The United Church of Canada, she was a devoted and active member of St. Paul's and Nashwaaksis United Church. She was a member of the U.C.W., the I.O.D.E. and Past-President of the Women's Institute. Effie was a volunteer at York Manor Nursing Home for over 10 years. She was an avid gardener and won awards for her needle point. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the 4th floor of Sheridan Villa for their care and kindness over the past 10 years. There will be no visitation by request. A Memorial Service will take place at St. Paul's United Church on Monday, August 31st, 2009 at 2:00 PM with The Rev. Paul Ross and The Rev. H.G. Mackenzie officiating. A reception will take place in the Fraser Memorial Hall immediately following the memorial service. Interment will take place at a later date in the New Mills Cemetery, Charlo, New Brunswick. For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the Alzheimer's Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
