HAYWARD, ROBERTA FLORENCE The family of Roberta Florence Hayward wish to celebrate her long and happy life. Roberta was born to Ernest and Ada (Boyle) Phillips on August 13th, 1918 at their home in Waasis. She retained her love of the communities of Waasis and Rusagonis where she grew up among her numerous relatives, community seniors and life-long friends. The family moved to Fredericton when Roberta was 21. In Fredericton she worked as a babysitter, housekeeper to some elderly neighbours, a nursing assistant at Victoria Hospital and as a photograph colourizer. She married Tommy Hayward in 1943 at a small ceremony at the parsonage in Rusagonis and the couple took up residence at Tommy's family home where Roberta lived until her passing. She was predeceased by her beloved husband in 1961; her first son, Daryl in 1998; her father; her mother; her older brother, Ewart and his wife Bernice, her sister, Edith and her husband Cedric Buckingham; and her cherished friend Joyce (Moore) McCaffery. She is survived by her immediate loving family one brother Ernest; daughter-in-law, Virginia (Doug) Poidvin; son, Clyde (Hazel); daughter, Olivia (Roy) Kelly and son Terry at home. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Beth and her daughter Laura; Marsha (Andy) Liska and their daughter Valerie; Jody Nason and her daughter Maddie, Nicholas, Lacey, Jared; Sonya MacDonald and her daughter Julia, Dean. The family thanks on Roberta's behalf, her special friend-to-the-end, Dora Armstrong. All are invited to join the family in the celebration of Roberta's life through your visit and expression of your memories at her home of over 65 years at 724 Route 655 in Waasis. Join us Thursday, September 3rd 2 to 9 pm, with a potluck supper at 5:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 4th at 2:00 pm at Rusagonis Baptist Church at 4 Whittaker Road in Rusagonis with Rev. Brent MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow at the Lower Lincoln Cemetery. A reception will be held at the family home after the burial. The family preference is that memorial donations be made to the Lower Lincoln Cemetery or a charity of the donor's choice in lieu of flowers.
