BRIGGS, JOYCE W. The passing of Joyce Winnifred Briggs formerly of Burton, NB occurred at White Rapids Manor, Fredericton Junction, on Tuesday, September 1, 2009. She was 84. Born November 16, 1924 in Chipman, NB, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Amy (Smith) Bishop. Joyce was a member of the Pine Grove United Church of Canada in Burton where she served as an Elder. She was also a member of the Women's Institute, P.C. Ladies, TOPS, served on the District School Board and was very active in community affairs and in various horse clubs. Joyce also served in the Canadian Armed Forces with the Canadian Womens Army Corp. Joyce is survived by four daughters, Jeannette London (Harold) of Burton, Dawn Briggs of Tracy, Cheryl Briggs-Derry (Ron) of Tracyville and Catherine Briggs (Phillip Embrett) of Burton; seven grandchildren, Patty Picard, Robert London, Andrew London (Tanya), Jason London (Heather), Troy Phillips, Misty McInnis-Whittaker (Billy) and Scott McInnis; seven great grandchildren; sisters Eva Henderson of Fredericton and Ferne Bishop of Gagetown; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband J. Douglas Briggs and brothers Donald, Willard and Ronald Bishop. Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Thursday from 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Bishop's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Margie Patterson officiating. Interment in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Burton, NB. Pallbearers will be grandson Robert, Andrew and Jason London, Troy Phillips, Scott McInnis and great grandson Andre Picard. Memorials to the Parkinson's Society of Canada (Maritime Division) or the Pine Grove United Church Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.
