VENO, GERALD J. Gerald J. Veno, precious husband of Nancy (Corey) Veno of Blissfield, NB, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2009. He had been in the Georges L. Dumont hospital for the last four months. After battling cancer off and on for the last nine years, he was finally taken home to be with his Lord. Gerald's kindness and unselfish generosity made him a much loved and respected man. He will be greatly missed. Gerald had been a forest ranger for 31 years and had recently retired. He greatly enjoyed working outdoors. He had a hobby of turning wooden bowls and many other interests. He enjoyed collecting hockey cards and playing his guitars. Besides his wife, Nancy, of 17 years, he is survived by one daughter, Cheryl (Kraig) Sellars of Ottawa, ON; one step-daughter, Melanie Morgan (Fred McCullough) of Keswick, NB; two step-sons, Jesse (Pam) Yerxa, Okotoks, AB and Corey Yerxa, Keswick, NB. He had one grandson, Jaxon Sellars, Ottawa; two step-grandsons, Brandon Pugh and Austin Morgan, Keswick; three step-granddaughters, Michaela and Amber Pugh, Keswick and Sierra Yerxa, Okotoks. The funeral was held at the Miramichi Valley Church in New Bandon. Pallbearers were step-sons, Corey and Jesse Yerxa; brother, Pat Veno; brother-in-law, Vemrose Watson and nephews Chris and Cody Veno. Soloist at the funeral was Nancy's brother, Randy Corey. The church choir also sang two beautiful pieces. The eulogy and message was given by Pastor David Storey. The family would like to sincerely thank the many, many people who made the last year bearable. We felt your love and many prayers. Your faithful visits to our home and while in the hospital added something very special to this very difficult time. So many comforted us in so many ways. Thank you so much for all the ways you did this - for looking after our home while we were away; phone calls; gifts of money and food; flowers; and most of all loving friendship.
