CHARTERS, NELLIE ELIZABETH It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Nellie E. (Daniel) Charters of New Maryland NB, at the Mountainside Lodge on Monday, September 28, 2009. She was 99. Born May 28, 1910 in New Maryland, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Elizabeth (Price) Daniel and wife of the late James Ora Charters. One of the oldest residents of New Maryland, Nellie was a member of the New Maryland United Church and life member of the Women's Institute. She owned and operated the first General Store and first Restaurant in New Maryland. She is survived her children, Cecil, wife, Carol of Nasonworth, Vaughan of New Maryland, Audrey Walker (Laurie) of Grande Praire; brother in law, Preston Charters (Elizabeth) of Nasonworth; sister in law, Mildred Daniel of New Maryland; daughter in law, Shirley Charters of Cold Lake; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; six great- great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sons, Glenn and Dayle Charters; daughter and son in law, Aldene and Earle Schriver; daughters in law, Charlene and Jennie Charters; brothers, Walter and Clarence Daniel; and sister Myrtle Charters. Visitation will be on Wednesday at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held at the New Maryland United Church on Thursday at 2:00 pm, Rev. Kelly Burke officiating assisted by Rev. Dr. Brad Little and Rev. H. Gil MacKenzie. Interment in the Church Cemetery.
