LUSCOMBE, ELLEN CHARLOTTE (NÉE GUNTER) (WELTON) Mrs. Ellen Charlotte Luscombe of Mill Cove Nursing Home passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 4th, 2009 at the age of 93. She was born in Mill Cove, NB on November 7th, 1915 and was the daughter of the late John and Hattie (Farris) Gunter. She was predeceased by her first husband, Weldon Welton, who passed away in October, 1984 and by her second husband, James Luscombe who passed away in September, 2000. She is survived by her children, Heather Boyd (Arthur) of Long Creek, Nancy Morton (Allison) of Chipman and John Welton (Nancy Lee) of Long Creek; two grandsons, Brian Morton (Karen) and Aaron Morton (Jody); one granddaughter, Cindy Chiasson (Chris); three great-grandsons, Travis Morton, Ashton and Lucas Morton; two great-granddaughters, Brooke Morton and Kaitlyn Chiasson; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Willa Albright; several cousins; nieces and nephews of Weldon; relatives of James in Newfoundland and many good friends. Ellen spent her youth in Mill Cove and White's Cove, spending many happy hours with aunts, uncles and cousins who were like brothers and sisters to her. When she married Weldon, she moved to Union Settlement where they brought up their three children, worked on the farm and tended their little general store. She loved to cook, sew and crochet. Ellen was a life time member of the Women's Missionary Society and the Waterborough Women's Institute, holding offices for many years and spending many hours cooking for and serving at their various events. She was a member of the Mill Cove United Baptist Church and attend the Wiggin's Cove United Baptist Church with Weldon. After marrying James, Ellen moved to Fredericton and lived at several addresses, always making new friends along the way. She lived on her own after James passed away until she was almost ninety-two, then in April of 2008 moved into the Mill Cove Nursing Home. Her family and friends were a special part of her life. Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 6th, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Jemseg Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Harold Price officiating and Rev. Aubrey Trail assisting.
