Margaret Ellen Constance 'Connie' MacInnis
Passed on: April 27th, 2008
Sydney It is with profound sadness and yet with much joy for a life well lived, that we announce the death of our mother on Sunday, April 27, 2008. Connie was born in Sydney Mines in 1914, the daughter of the late Theodore and Margaret (Watson) Sodero. In 1924, her family moved to Sydney’s south end, where she lived for much of her life. In 1941, she married Gordon MacInnis and together they made a loving home for their three children. The family spent many glorious summers at Innisfree in Mira and continue to return with their grandchildren. Connie was particularly fond of her brothers, Watson (Isabel), Clare (Vivian) and her sister, Kay (Bob MacKinnon) and their families. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Connie was predeceased by her husband in 2001. She is survived by sons, John (Nancy Weaver), Sydney, and Andrew (Nancy Blanchard-MacDonald), Jemseg, N.B.; daughter, Margaret (David Kavanagh), Bedford, N.S. and their children, Daniel, Jane, Kate and Mary Ann Kavanagh. She is also survived by her many good friends at UCW, hooking and “club.” Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Wednesday, April 30, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Thursday, May 1, 2008, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Family flowers only, donations in memory of Connie may be made to St. Andrew’s United Church Building Fund or a charity of one’s choice.
