Grant Cann
60, North Sydney Grant Cann, 60, of North Sydney, passed away at his residence at New Dawn, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born at Halfway Road, North Sydney, Grant was the son of John and the late Irene Cann. He was a member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church, North Sydney. He was formerly employed with Marine Atlantic. In his younger years Grant was active in baseball and hockey. He is survived by his father, John; sister, Sheila MacNeil, Sydney Mines; and by a brother, Jimmie (Verna) Cann, North Sydney; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Irene. Visitation for the late Grant Cann will be held at Fillmore and Whitman FUneral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines, Thursday, May 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Giles Presbyterian Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Richie Robinson officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to St. Giles Church or to a charity of choice.
