Port Colbourne/Glace Bay It is with great sadness the family announces the death of Joan Eleanor Morgan (Acaster) on April 19, 2008, at the Port Colbourne Hospital, Ontario. Born Aug. 11, 1943, she was the daughter of the late George and Annie (Robertson) Morgan. She attended New Aberdeen and Morrison Glace Bay High School and graduated from Glace Bay General Hospital School of Nursing, Class of ‘63. Joan was employed for over 35 years as nurse manager at the Welland Obstetrics Clinic. Loving mother of Marye Ann (Colin) Chisholm, Stevensville, Ont. and devoted grandmother to Clinton, Alicia and Bryson Chisholm. She is also survived by sister, Marie (Bill) Smith, White Rock, B.C. and their children, Lori and Derek, Vancouver; and brother, Earl (Ann) Morgan, Marion Bridge, N.S. and their children, Kyle (Laura), Gavin (Nicola) and Arlie Beth (Laith) Shimon and grandnephews, Matthew and Andrew Shimon, Michael Smith, newly arrived Grady Morgan and grandniece, Elizabeth Smith. Joan was very sociable, enjoyed cooking, entertaining and dancing. She was active with the Niagara Professionals Association and was a volunteer with the Niagara Foster Children’s Agency. She attended Central United Church. Joan’s greatest passions, besides her family, were golfing and travelling with friends. The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the staff of Port Colbourne Hospital and friends, Chris and John Flesch and Evelyn and Ron Wills for their never ending love, compassion and friendship especially during the past year. A special thank you to cousin Donnie and Diane MacDonald, Marion Bridge, for their frequent visits with Joan. Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at the Port Colbourne Chapel, Davidson Funeral Home Cremation has taken place and a committal service will be held later this summer. Joan has chosen that her ashes be spread at the family home, Ben George Road on a hill overlooking the Mira, her favourite place in the world. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to Warden United Church, New Aberdeen, Glace Bay General Hospital Foundation or a favourite charity.
