CHARLES ERIC C. TOPPLE

TOPPLE, CHARLES ERIC C. Eric Topple of Fredericton passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Born on January 25, 1942 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Eric was the son of the late Charles Alexander and Edith Ryerson (Fleet) Topple. After graduating from Yarmouth High School Eric attended the Nova Scotia Land Survey Institute in Lawrencetown, NS, presently known as The College of Geographic Sciences. His early career from 1964-1978 saw him serving as Vice-President of Fredericton's Seaboard Surveys. In 1978 he became the Director of Surveys with the Department of Natural Resources for the province of New Brunswick. He was an active member of the New Brunswick Land Surveyor's Association, serving as President, on the Board of Examiners and as a Councilor. In 1980 Eric began work with the Federal Government as Regional Surveyor and Property Management Officer with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans - working out of the head office in Dartmouth. This past October Eric celebrated his retirement from this position. Upon retirement, Eric was celebrated and highly respected for his exceptional work ethic, commitment to excellence in his work and working relationships. He was a faithful and active member of the Brunswick Street Baptist Church. Eric is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Wilberta (Johnson Fowler); children Rockland (Marion) Fowler, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Fowler, Pamela Laird (Robert), Heather LeMoine (Andrew), Daniel (Christina) Fowler, Susan McGinley (Jack) and Eric David (Gina) Topple; fourteen grandchildren Shane, Rudi, Mandy, Joshua, Natalie, Mindy, Sarah, Jimmy, Connor, Molly, Mason, Levi, Maggie, Corbin; two sisters Margaret Moran (late Gerald), Marilyn Latter (David); several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Eric was predeceased by an infant brother, John William Topple and by his first wife Mildred Ann (Pitman) Topple. Visitation will take place at McAdam's Select Funeral Home, York Street, Fredericton on Friday, November 27 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Brunswick Street Baptist Church on Saturday, November 28 at 1 pm with Pastor Greg Geldart officiating. Internment will follow at the Fredericton Rural Cemetery.
