JOHNSON, DONALD WALTER The death of Donald Walter Johnson of Marysville, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Sunday, November 29th, 2009. Born in Marysville, NB, he was the son of the late William and Glenna (Collins) Johnson and the husband of Mae (Mitchell) Johnson. Don was a diligent and faithful servant of his Lord and Savior. His loved visiting the sick and shut-ins by bringing a word of comfort and the recent Sunday Service on Tape for them. He was avid sportsman whether fishing or hunting and especially baseball. He lead the Marysville Maroons to NB Junior Championship in 1943, helped the Marysville Royals to provincials in 1947, 48, and 55, named the NB Senior Baseball league all-star team as third baseman in 1957 - 58, he retired in 1960 and became a umpire and attended a Brooklyn Dodgers training camp in 1949. He umpired the NBSBL finals in 1966 and was the first ever Canada Summer Games in 1969. His greatest love was time spend with family especially his grandchildren. He always had a word of encouragement for everyone he met and was always eager to introduce them to his Lord. Survived by his loving wife, Mae; one daughter, Sheila Dillon (Jim ) of Nashwaaksis, NB; two grandchildren, Krista (Carl) and Brad (Becky); four great grandchildren, Kaylee, Jacob, Dylan and Emma; one sister, Mavis Leavitt. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Marysville Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Rev. David DuBois will officiate assisted by Rev. Ralph Irving. Interment will be in the Marysville Baptist Church Cemetery.
