PALMER, LEONARD W. Son of the late George and Carrie Palmer of Wisharts Point, Tabusintac NB, passed away peacefully at the Veterans Health Unit in Fredericton on Tuesday, December 15, at the age of 89. Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife Reta of 57 years in October 2001 and an infant son, David. Leonard was also predeceased by his daughter-in-law Claire (LeGresley) Palmer, three brothers, Robert (late Kay), Ernest (Millie) and Elwood (Millie). Leonard is survived by his daughter Deborah Beunders (John) and his son Brian Palmer (Barbara). Len also leaves behind three grandchildren Bart Beunders (Carla) of Fredericton, Tonya Thompson (Wayne) of North Caroline, Michael Palmer (Debbie) of Fredericton. Len also leaves two great grandchildren, Shane Beunders and Adam Thompson. Dad enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1940 and served with distinction during the second World War, the Battle of the Atlantic and volunteered for the Korean War. Dad worked after serving in the Navy as Park Superintend in Grand Lake, Nova Scotia and Stationary Engineer at the Miramichi Hospital for several years. Dad was very active in his community. He was an elder at St David's United Church. He belonged to A.O.F.T. Men's group and a founding member of the Seniors Group in Burnt Church where he lived happily until moving to the D.V.A. in Fredericton. Leonard W. Palmer will be resting at St David's United Church, Burnt Church, with visitation on Thursday, December 17, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The Funeral service will be held Friday, December 18, at 11 am from St David's United Church Burnt Church, with Rev. J.D. Kennedy officiating.
