MACLEOD, ALEXANDER "ALEC" The passing of Alexander "Alec" MacLeod of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Ruth (MacEachern) MacLeod, occurred on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the York Manor Nursing Home. Born on March 31, 1918 in Cardigan Head, PEI, he was the son of the late Angus and Rachael (Martin) MacLeod. He was a member of the Nashwaaksis United Church. Alec served in the Canadian Air Force and the Royal Air Force and was a veteran of WWII. Alec retired as the service manager of Bird Stairs Ltd. Alec is survived by his sons, Bruce (Pat) of Saint John, NB and David (Jill) of Fredericton, NB; daughters, Barbara of Fredericton, NB and Elaine (Melvin) Estey of Stratford, PEI; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Alec was predeceased by his son, Bill; sisters, Annie Minchin and Isabelle Jane Shaw and brother, Stirling. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Saturday, January 23, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. John Cameron officiating. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery at a later date.
