REV. VERA MARY SAMPSON
SAMPSON, REV. VERA MARY Rev. Vera Mary Sampson, 58, of Woodstock, N.B. passed away peacefully at the Upper River Valley Hospital on January 23, 2010 with her daughter by her side. Born in Asbestos, P.Q. on October 28, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Ross and Joan (Dorning) Sampson. Vera was a social worker and a United Church minister. Vera loved to read, cook, garden, play cards and go to Bingo. She also loved to collect bells, Eyores, angels and nativity scenes. She was also a great lover of Star Trek. But most of all, Vera loved life and she especially loved all of the wonderful people in her life. "Peachy", a nickname by her father, could always be known to say "You have your family of birth and your family of choice". And we knew she loved both families with all of her heart. Mom loved the color yellow and yellow roses. Vera is survived by daughter; Anne Shirley (David Townsend) of Sandy Point, NS, and her beloved Cocker Spaniel, Lady; sister Beth Sampson (Gerald Shae), Fleur-De-Lys, NFLD; brothers, William (Deborah) Sampson, Timmins, ON, John (Bonnie) Sampson, Amhurstberg, ON; sister Kathy Sampson (Kevin Allen), Amhurstburg, ON; many nieces and nephew; Jennifer, Kendal, Lindsay, Chad, Erin, Robin, Rebecca, Kendra and Rylee. There will be a Celebration of Life service on Tuesday, January 26th at 2 pm at Saint James United Church with a pot luck to follow. Flowers to be delivered to the church and any memorial donations may be made to the Foster Family Association.
