CLIFFORD NEIL HAWKES

HAWKES, CLIFFORD NEIL 73, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Monday, February 8, 2010, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born September 22, 1936, in Cold Creek, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Irvine and Almeda (Vail) Hawkes. Clifford was a member of United Pentecostal Church, Truro, where he had served as an usher and on the Board of Trustess. He worked as a carpenter all of his life with various construction companies, the last being Alva Construction in Antigonish. Clifford is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Ina E. (Price); daughter, Tina (Clyde) MacCabe, Greenfield; sons, Trent (Danielle), Gilbert, Arizona; Troy, Truro; grandchildren, Madison Hawkes, Josh, Martina and Aaron MacCabe; sisters, Elsie Vail, Joyce Hawkes, Chipman, New Brunswick; brother, Manley (Lorraine) Hawkes, Amherst; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Mayme and Ida Hawkes and Jean Hawkes in infancy; brothers, Stanley, Gerald, Arthur and Cecil. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Clifford's family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Wednesday, February 10, 2010, and where the funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday, February 11, 2010, Reverend George Luke officiating, assisted by Reverend Daniel Swim. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Clifford's memory to United Pentecostal Church Building Fund, Colchester East Hants Hospice Society or Palliative Care are welcomed.
