SHIRLEY ETHEL BURKE

BURKE, SHIRLEY ETHEL Shirley E. Burke of Geary, NB, born October 30th, 1933 in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, daughter of the late Edward and Anne Skanes and wife of the late Thomas A. Burke, was suddenly called to be with our Lord on February 11th, 2010. Shirley was well known at all of the sports arenas. She cheered on all of her family, wearing out one cow bell, no matter what sport they pursued. Shirley also loved to bake and her bread and rolls were always found at the church and family functions. Shirley is survived by her loving family, daughter, Shirley-Anne (Doug) Weber of Westbank, BC; sons, Tim (Donna) of Arlington, VA and Mark (Gail) of Edmonton, AB; son-in-law, Karl Toole of Oromocto, NB; nine grandchildren, Kevin and Stephen (Sharlene Bourque) Toole, Sean and Greg Weber, Derek (Jocelyne) and Brent (Isabelle Bulger) Burke, Ashley Burke, Jason (Bonnie) and Philip Whalen; four great-grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Tommy; her beloved daughter, Gladys and her parents. Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home (357-5100) on Monday, February 15th, 2010 from 7 to 9 pm. The memorial service will be held at the St. John's Anglican Church in Oromocto on Tuesday, February 16th, 2010 at 1:00 pm. Rev. Keith Howlett officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the St. John's Anglican Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Shirley's name may be made to the Oromocto Extra Mural Program, the Oromocto VON, the Special Olympics or to a charity of the donor's choice.
