
Raymond Wallace MacBeth Hyde

76, Sydney Mines Raymond Wallace MacBeth Hyde, age 76, of Sydney Mines, died suddenly May 6, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family. Born at Stirling, Scotland, he was the son of the late Alex and Catherine (Fneddon) Hyde. Ray was a member of Trinity Anglican Church. He served for 25 years in the Canadian Armed Forces as a paratrooper and medic, having been posted to many hospitals and ships throughout Canada. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and while posted in Germany, he held the position of Grand Master. He was an avid gardener and fisherman. Ray was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, Eunice (Jessome); daughter, Martine (Kevin) Doucette, Dartmouth; stepsons, Ashley (Karen) Cox, Calgary, David Cox, Toronto; many aunts and nieces in Scotland and by his loving best friend, his dog, Gizmo. Also surviving are grandsons, Nathan (Erin) Doucette, Halifax, Luke Doucette, Whistler, B.C.; granddaughter, Simone Doucette, Halifax; and step-grandchildren, Jeremy and Amanda Cox, Lower Sackville, and Garrett and Ryan Lyle, Calgary. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating. Burial under the direction of Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home will be at a later date. As memorials, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
