93, New Waterford It is with great sadness the family announce the death of their loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Adelaide Gouthro of 12th Street, New Waterford. Adelaide passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, in the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Born in Cheticamp, she was the daughter of the late Stanislaus and Mary (Aucoin) Muise of Cheticamp. Adelaide was a member of the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Church, New Waterford. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Horvath (J.R.), Cecile MacAulay (Dave); two sons, Gerard Gouthro and Michael Gouthro (Elizabeth). Also surviving are Adelaide’s daughter-in-law, Betty Jean Smithson; a sister, Betty Dorn (Charlie) Freehold, New Jersey; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Adelaide was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Gouthro, son, Brian, two sisters, Mary Ellen, Effie and two brothers, Simon and Jack. Visitation is Thursday, May 15, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, 2 p.m., in the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Church followed by interment in the parish cemetery. Following the mass, a reception will take place at the Carmel Centre. As an expression of sympathy for Adelaide donations in her memory may be made to the VON or a charity of one’s choice.
