Passed on: May 16th, 2008

62, Glace Bay It is with deepest sadness that we have to say goodbye to a wonderful man who had many names: husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and his favorite name ‘Poppy.’ Kenny passed away peacefully Friday, May 16, 2008, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex after his courageous battle with cancer. Born in Glace Bay, Feb. 11, 1946, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Morgan) Evely. Kenny was a member of the Radio Club and Hub Club. Kenny worked for Devco for 31 years as a mechanic and invented the Evely Reel to make his co-workers lives easier. He was a good friend to all who knew him and he loved spending time with them at the ‘office’. He was especially talented with anything his hands touched. He had a love of animals, hunting, fishing, music and would never say no to an adventure. Kenny was predeceased by his first wife, Jacqueline (Jackie); and is survived by his sons, Philip (Doreen), Kyle (Allison). He will be sadly missed by his wife June Marie; her daughters, Junie (Johnny) White, Ann (Dennis) Doucette; his brothers, Brian (Glenda), Blaise, Thomas (Mary), all of Glace Bay; sisters, Brenda (Benny) MacKenzie, New Waterford, Joyce, Glace Bay; Kenny was happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren, Jacqueline, Kiera, Dylon, Robyn, Kennedy, Jaden and Brady. He was predeceased by his sister, Rachael ‘Cordella’ McNeil and a child in infancy. At Kenny’s request, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. There will be a funeral service Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Salvation Army Church, Glace Bay, with Captains Kristian and Lesley Simms officiating. Special thanks to Dr. Gallivan, secretary Jenny Lock, all VON, especially Kenny’s angels, Debbie Boutilier and Stacy Bloise.
