62, Port Hawkesbury John Donald Kennedy, 62, Port Hawkesbury, died Sunday, May 18, 2008, at home. Born in Port Hawkesbury, he was the son of the late Donald and Mary Jess (Mac Intyre) Kennedy. He was a member of St. Joseph’s parish, Port Hawkesbury. He was a retired employee of Canada Post and a lifetime member of CUPW, Local 102 of Port Hawkesbury. John had a passion for horses, racing for many years in Inverness, Port Hood, Sydney and North Sydney. He was a longtime member of USTA as well as Standard Bred Canada. Surviving are daughters, Paula (Alex) Mac Donald, Port Hood, Donna (Perry) Carrigan, Port Hastings, Mary (Shawn) Mac Intyre, Halifax; sons, Gerard (Janet) Marion Bridge, Malcolm, Port Hawkesbury, Donald (Tanya), Frankville; sister, Marie Mac Donald, Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren, Jessica, Brennen and Brooke. He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce (Mac Donald) on Aug. 8, 2000. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 21, in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 22 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital or St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery Fund.
