Harold Cudworth

83, Bedford/Sydney Harold Cudworth, 83, Bedford, formerly of Sydney, passed away May 22, 2008, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Harold and Lillian Cudworth. Harold will always be remembered as a kind and gentle man who truly cared for his family and friends. He established many lifelong friendships through his interest in gardening, and breeding roller canaries and dogs. Harold was an avid rose gardener, and readily shared his knowledge and his roses with many. He will live on in many beautiful gardens through the plants and advice he shared. He was very proud to have received the “Gardener of the Year” award for Nova Scotia in 1992. He is survived by daughters, Margie (Raymond) Davies, Judy (Sandy) Hines; their children, Keith, Paul, and Lynn Davies, and Megan Hines; sister, Doreen Davis. He will be sadly missed by sister-in-law and companion, Bette MacLeod. His loss will also be felt by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernie (Edie) Milley, Rich MacKay, Leah (Ben) Goodwin, Hazel (Charlie) Johnson, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Bernice. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Harold’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, in Bedford United Church. Reception immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society.
