Walter 'Skip' Wilkinson

Oct. 9, 1947 - May 20, 2008 It is with sadness that the family of the late Walter ‘Skip’ Wilkinson announce his passing on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the age of 60 years. He leaves to mourn his passing; wife, Tana; daughter, Tami (Blaine) Mitchell and their son Alex; son, Tony Wilkinson; mother, Pat Vacheresse; brothers, Gary (Brenda) Wilkinson, Timmy (Anne) Wilkinson, Rick (Avis) Vacheresse; sister, Carol (Gordon) Sheriff, and sister-in-law, Belinda Vacheresse. Walter, better known as ‘Skip’, was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. During his working years he spent time as a Coal Miner in Glace Bay, N.S. and, after moving out to Alberta, he worked in the oil patch with Champion Drilling. Skip was a funny man and always enjoyed a good joke or two. Skip enjoyed a beer and a good time with his good friends at the Royal, especially on Saturday afternoon listening to the ‘Jam’ session, or when in Glace Bay, at the Radio Club. Skip was especially proud of his children and tried to spend what time he could with them. His pride and joy was “Papa’s Boy” Alex, his grandson, of whom he loved to take to Nova Scotia on vacation. Skip was predeceased by his father, Harold Wilkinson, and father, Gordon Vacheresse; brothers, Allan Wilkinson and Dennis Vacheresse. A celebration of Skip’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 2 p.m. in Warden United Church in Glace Bay, with Reverend Clayton Austin officiating.
