1952-2008 Glace Bay We, the family of Darlene Evasuk-MacDonald, regretfully announce her peaceful and untimely passing on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Glace Bay, Dec. 7, 1952, Darlene attended Cape Breton Regional Vocational School. Upon graduation from nursing, Darlene worked at the IWK in Halifax; and upon returning to Cape Breton, she worked at the Cape Breton Hospital/Braemore Home for 25 years, until her early retirement due to illness. A daughter of William and Frances Evasuk, she is also survived by her loving husband and devoted caregiver, Leonard ‘Len’; daughter, Jennifer, Halifax; and son, Jordan, at home; two grandchildren, Ethan and Stephen Curran; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John. Darlene enjoyed spending her free time with her cats, Sassy ‘Trevor’ and Sammy; she enjoyed gardening and painting and when summertime arose, spending summers with family and friends around a campfire on Trout Brook Road ‘out on the Mira.’ Visitation today (Thursday, May 29, 2008) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, May 30, 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Rev. Leo Boone officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations in Darlene’s memory are suggested to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice.
