74, Glace Bay It is with great sadness that we, the family, regret to announce the passing of our mother, Bertha Bailey, Thursday, May 29, 2008, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex surrounded by her loving family. Born in Dominion, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Anna MacDonald. Bertha started her nursing career as a nurse at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital for five years, then St. Joseph’s Hospital in Glace Bay for 30 years and finished her career at the Oshawa General Hospital in Ontario for nine years. Bertha is survived by her daughters, Joan (Mike), Darlene (Robert), Sylvia (Steven), Margie (Sheldon); son, Guy (Ruth); grandchildren, Corrine, Kenneth, Raymond, Crystal, Robert, Shaun, Tara, Travis, Mitchell, Amanda, Stephanie; and five great-grandchildren, Caylum, Trey, Cassidy, Tyden and Ava; brothers and sisters. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her daughter, Bertha. There will be no visitation at Bertha’s request. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 31, 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating. Interment will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney-Glace Bay Highway. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
