72, Sydney Martha Margaret Cameron, 72, Sydney, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born July 19, 1935 in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward Cameron and the late Dorothy Florence (Shaugharue/Gillis) Cameron. Martha retired from Maritime Tel & Tel as Assistant Chief Operator in 1992 after 35 years of service. The focus of Martha's life and the source of her greatest joy was family. She took great delight in her many nieces and nephews. In Martha, every member of her family knew a sister/aunt who greatly loved them, doted on them, indulged them, celebrated their joys and shared their disappointments. Martha greatly loved them all. With her, they always had a place to come home to; a place where they belonged. She is survived by her sister, Catherine Jean (Robert) Proctor, Lower Sackville, N.S.; brothers John Daniel “Dinky” (Donna Lee), Coxheath; Donald Joseph (Joanne), Gatineau, P.Q.; Kevin James (Margaret), Calgary; nieces and nephews Sarah and Robert Proctor; Kevin and Sylvia Cameron, Shelley, Kimberly and Amber Hodges, Leeanne and Glen Wall; Darcy, Cecelia and Dorothy Cameron; Brock, Mitchell, Reid, and Lydia Cameron; Donald Cameron and Carol Ann Meerman; Cameron Andrea and Dale Doucette; Ronald Paquette, Keri Lynn Galisky, Kaidon and Craig Paquette; brothers-in law Robert Andrea (Shirley); Ron Paquette (Marg). Martha was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Dorothy Cameron; brother, Edward Alexander, sister-in-law Margaret; sisters Cecelia Gladys (Andrea) and Judith Elaine (Paquette). Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation at Martha's request. Funeral mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier, Father Errol Macdonald officiating. A reception will follow in the church. A private family internment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Holy Redeemer Church Building Fund or CB Palliative Care.
