Matilda (Tillie) Ross

90, Sydney/Halifax Matilda Ross, 90, of Sydney, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008, at the QE II Health Science Center, Halifax. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (MacKay) Latham. Tillie was very active in the Anglican Church, particularly with St. Stephen’s on Prince Street. She was a founding member of the St. Stephen’s Ladies Guild and was also a cub master for a number of years. She is survived by sons, Jim, Sydney, Doug (Karen), Dartmouth; daughter-in-law, Dee Ross, Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Keith, Jason and Jennifer; a great-grandson, Zachery. Tillie was predeceased by her husband, Bernard, a son, David, sisters, Marion and Alfreda, brother, Hughie, brothers, Joseph and William in the Halifax Explosion and a grandson, Bruce. Visitation will be held Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will take place Tuesday, 11 am. at Church of Christ the King, with Rev. Fred and Val Rhymes officiating.
