Roy 'Boots' Boutilier
61, Glace Bay It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Roy Beddard Boutilier of Brookland Street, Glace Bay, after seven courageous years battling cancer. Born in 1946, he was the son of the late Ben and Annie (Payne) Boutilier. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jacqueline Dressher and sister-in-law, Shirley Boutilier. He is survived by his wife, Donna Dwyer; his only son, Roy (Paula Billard) and his two precious grandchildren, Daniel and Lindy Boutilier. He is also survived by his brothers, Bill, Benji (Sarah); sisters, Marie (Bernie MacInnis) and Paula (Frank MacLean); in-laws, Mary and Jim Dwyer; and many nieces and nephews. Roy was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed his many trips to Framboise with numerous fishing buddies. When not in a boat on the lake, he could be found in his garden or greenhouse. Following Roy’s wish, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Friday, June 6, 2008, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney-Glace Bay Highway. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Patten Funeral Home & Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520.
