83, Glace Bay It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Hattie Treige on Tuesday June 3, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with her family by her side, after a brief illness. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Annie Mai (Roberts) Treige. She was employed at the Hat Box on Commercial Street, and will always be remembered for her generosity to family, friends and strangers — custom drapes, fine cooking and catering. Hattie was a member of the Cape Breton Council of Boy Scouts, Friends of the Savoy, St. John’s Ambulance, Adult Literacy and Greenwood Cemetery. Hattie is survived by her only son, Joe, his wife, Brenda (LeBlanc), Houston, Tex.; grandson, Jeff, Nagoya, Japan; granddaughter, Jennifer (Darren) Reiniger, Moncton, N.B.; and special cousin, Florence Briski. Also surviving are her two sisters, Muriel Turner and Mary Shepard and brother, Danny (Marjorie). Hattie was predeceased by her brothers, Joe and Alfred. Visitation for the late Hattie Treige will take place Friday, June 6, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., in Patten Funeral Home and Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520. Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 7, 2008, in St. Anthony’s Church, Dominion Street, with Rev. Conrad Edwards officiating. Internment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
