87, Ontario/North Sydney Mrs. Alice (Robinson) Howie, 87, of Windsor, Ont., formerly of Port Stanley, Ont., and Cape Breton, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan Campus. Beloved wife of the late Frederick ‘Ted’ Howie (2003). Dearly loved mother of James H. ‘Jim’ Howie and his wife, Angela, Port Stanley, Fred Howie and his wife, Brenda, Woodstock, and Cheryl Norris and her husband, Pat, Windsor. Dear sister of Jean, Helen, Gordon and Richard. Also fondly remembered by a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Patricia ‘Pat’ Howie, a grandson, Jason Howie and several brothers and sisters. Born in North Sydney, Cape Breton, N.S., June 19, 1920, she came to Port Stanley in 1956. Alice formerly worked as an RNA at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital. She was a member of Christ Church (Anglican), Port Stanley, the Port Stanley 55+ Club, and a charter member of the ladies auxiliary to Last Post Branch No. 410, Royal Canadian Legion, Port Stanley. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas, Ont., (519) 631-1160, Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Christ Church (Anglican), Port Stanley, Monday at 11 a.m. Following cremation, interment in Christ Churchyard. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario, Christ Church (Anglican), Port Stanley, or the Canadian Diabetes Association gratefully acknowledged.
