Bay St. Lawrence January 7,1923 - June 8, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lillian Burton, 85, of Bay St. Lawrence. She passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008, at the Highland Manor in Neil's Harbour. Born in Meat Cove, she was the daughter of the late Angus and Theresa (MacLellan) MacDonald. She was a member of St. Margaret’s parish, St. Margaret's Village. Lillian was known by all for her honesty, kindness, and hospitality. There is nothing she enjoyed more than receiving friends and enjoying a good chat over a cup of tea. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Edward (Heather), Cleveland, N.S., Stewart (Cassie), Craigmore, N.S., and Scott, Bay St. Lawrence, and her daughters, Teresa (Mike), Nanaimo, BC, Bernice (Wayne), Port Hawkesbury, N.S., and Jean, Bay St. Lawrence. She is also survived by a sister, Helen and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John Henry, sisters Annie Mae, Catherine and Margaret; brothers, John Hughie, Murdock James, Joseph and Lawrence and one grandson, Graham. Visitation for Lillian Burton will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, in St. Margaret's Parish Center, St. Margaret’s Village, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Margaret's Church, with Fr. William MacPherson officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery. The funeral is under the care and direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St.,Sydney Mines. Donations in Lillian’s memory may be made to the Parish Building Fund, or a charity of your choice.
