66, New Waterford It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon MacDonald on Sunday, June 8, 2008, at home, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Oswald and Cecilia (White) MacDonald. Gordon lived in Catalone and Louisbourg until he moved to River Ryan 24 years ago. He worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator until he retired after 30 years from Stan Dicks Trucking. Gordon loved the great outdoors, cutting wood, walks, socializing and his yearly visits with his girls in Ontario. Gordon is survived by his wife, Clare (White) MacDonald; three sons, Gordon Jr., (Francine), Joseph (Rayanne), Jason (Shelly) Digero; six daughters, Marlene (Michael) Kennedy, Darlene (Mark), Jackie (Terry) Hyisky, Trina (Alex) Ounitchenko, Tove (Calvin) Campbell, Thekla (Kyle); daughter-in-law, Robin MacDonaldand; five sisters, Sharon (Alonzo) Deveaux, Betty, Doris (Eugene) Greene, Linda, Laura (Anthony), and 23 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his son, Peter; a grandson, Larry, and a brother-in-law, Peter Gaigneur. There will be no visitation by his request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Avenue, New Waterford, NS, 862-7500. A chapel service will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at 2 p.m. at McLellan Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Duncan Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery.
