82, MacGillvray Guest Home/Formerly of Mill Creek It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Irene Rideout. Irene passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008, at the MacGillivray Guest Home, Sydney. Irene spent her working years as a baker in various restaurants. She was a former leader of the ladies auxiliary, Mill Creek Community Development. She was an avid dart player and could always be counted on to have a smile and kind word for all who met her. Irene was the daughter of the late Joe and Molly (Waugh) Harrietha. She will be sadly missed by her children, Alex (Wanda), Indiana, USA, Doug (Susan), Sydney Mines, Ronnie (Rhonda), Orangeville, Ont., James (Cathy) and Blake, Mill Creek, Linda (Merrill), Mill Creek and Mary Anne, Lawrence, Ma. She will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Kim, Sheri, Michael, Danny, Joe, Rena, Kylee, Cody, Trina, Jason, Katie, Ryan and William. Cookie Nanny will be missed by her great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Haley, Alyssa, J.D., Alison and Adam. Also left to mourn her loss is her brother, Michael (Nettie) Harrietha; her sister, Margaret; sisters-in-law, Vange Harrietha and Goni Harrietha. Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband, Walter, son, Michael Terrence, sister, Josie, brother-in-law, Joe O’Shea, brothers, Dan and Jack, sister, Pat, brother-in-law, Tommy, brother, Joe ‘Andy’, sister-in-law, Rejean, sister, Velma, brother-in-law, Danny Bona, daughter-in-law, Arlene, grandson, Cory and great-grandson, Tyler. Visitation Tuesday, June 17, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Bras d’Or, with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Irene has touched the lives of all who have met her and we take comfort knowing she is finally at peace. We love you and we will miss you.
