73, Glace Bay It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Edward Michael (Mick) King on Thursday, June 12, 2008, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex surrounded by his loving family. Mick was a resident of Seaview manor for the past two years. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Michael and Ina (Clarke) King. Mick was a member of Holy Cross Church. He was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed carpentry work and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Laura Leona King (Lahey); sons, Robert (Janet) Lake Echo, N.S., Norman (Olive) Glace Bay, Clayton (Lori) Glace Bay, David (Wendy) Victoria, British Columbia; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his pet dog and ‘pal’, Misty; sister, Glady (Clayton) Nash; brother, Wayne (Irva) King, Dartmouth, N.S. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 18, from 1-3 p.m. at the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating. Memorial donations in Mike’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Seaview Manor.
