Eileen Louise Mader

74, Bedford/Sydney Eileen Louise passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family, Friday, June 13, 2008. Eileen was cherished by her loving husband of 54 years, Ernie; her children, Barbara (David Rathbun), Bedford, Earle (Cathy), Hammonds Plains, Scott (Lisa), Lower Sackville, and Dawn (Dale Hooper), Toronto. She was adored by her 10 grandchildren, Jenna, Bhreagh and James Rathbun, Chelsea and Keara Mader, Nicole and Jenna Marsh, Samuel Mader and Jake and Emma Hooper. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Doug Mader, Edmonton; and sister-in-law, Mary Mader, Ingonish Beach. Eileen was preceded by her father, Charles Mombourquette and mother, Laura Stirling. Eileen was born in Sydney on beautiful Cape Breton Island and lived there over 50 years until moving to Halifax to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, Bedford. She was an active volunteer with the Diabetes Association in Sydney for many years. Eileen loved big family gatherings especially at Christmas. She totally enjoyed the family Thanksgiving and lobster parties which were held at Jack and Rose’s cottage in Musquodoboit Harbour. Eileen will always be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humour. Many thanks to the nursing staff of 8.1 of the Infirmary and 5A of the VG. Special thanks to the Palliative Care team and the wonderful nurses of the VON who were always there to support us; allowing Eileen to be at home with her family in her final days. There will be no visitation. A celebration of Eileen’s life will be held Friday, June 20 at All Saints Anglican Church, Bedford at 11 a.m., Canon Robert Power officiating. A reception will be held directly following the service. Family burial to take place at a later date.
