MAWHINNEY, A. BLAIR - The death of Arthur Blair Mawhinney, loving husband of 65 years to Verna (Patterson), occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on August 29, 2002. Born on March 16, 1914 in Mace's Bay to the late Arthur J. and Sarah A. (McKay) Mawhinney. A local fisherman for many years, he also was employed by NBTel, Department of Highways and Provincial Parks. Blair was a lifelong member of Mace's Bay Trinity Anglican Church, having served as a warden and choir member; as well as founding member of the Fundy Bay Seniors. He was well known for his love of music through song or playing banjo and guitar. Blair had a strong love for family and friends, having travelled along with Verna to various locations to be with them. He will be sadly missed by Verna as well as son Glendon and his wife Clair of Mace's Bay; two daughters Joanne of Rothesay; Carolyn and her husband Jack Rogers of Saint John; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one sister Lu Boyer of Saint John; 20 nieces and nephews; predeceased by his parents; one brother, Samuel; three sisters, Elizabeth Small, Irene Clark and Kathleen Clark. Resting at Trinity Anglican Church in Mace's Bay from where the funeral will be held on Monday, September 2 at 2:00 p.m., with interment in Mace's Bay Cemetery. Visitation at Church on Saturday 7:00-9:00; Sunday 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00. Memorial donations may be made to Mace's Bay Trinity Anglican Church, Mace's Bay Cemetery Fund, or a charity of donor's choice.
