Isabelle MacDonald

Formerly of Sydney Mines Isabelle Josephine MacDonald died peacefully in her sleep on June 15, 2008, in Knowlton, Que. Born in Sydney Mines, Isabelle was the daughter of the late Dr. Duncan R. MacLean and Christine (MacDonald) MacLean. She attended Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church and was educated in Sydney Mines and at both Acadia University and Mount Allison University. She married Dr. Fyfe MacDonald in 1944 and lived in Simcoe, Ont. and Town of Mount Royal, Quebec before retiring in Lindsay, Ont. She is survived by a son, Dr. Ross Macdonald (Geraldine), Calgary; a daughter, Janet Burtch (Peter) Barnard, Vermont; three grandchildren; brother, Frank MacLean (Florence), Sydney; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, and a sister, Blanche MacLean. Service and interment will be in the fall.
