63, Sydney It is with deep sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Chris after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with her loving family at her side. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late D.W. and Anne (MacMullin) MacDonald. Chris was a wonderful teacher who loved children and enriched the lives of so many of her students. Most of her teaching career was spent at St. Anthony Daniel Elementary School before retiring from Coxheath Elementary. She enjoyed tennis, golf, curling, painting and gardening. Chris was a long standing member of the Cromarty Tennis Club. She enjoyed travelling with her family and helping out in the community. She volunteered with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Chris is survived by her loving husband, Kevin; sons, Donald Kevin and Michael Archie; sisters, Anne (Steve) Sajatovich, Bernadette (Pat) Murray; brothers, Len (Elaine), Jim (Mona); mother-in-law, Margie MacNeil; sisters-in-law, Jane and Nancy and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Chris was predeceased by father-in-law, Archie MacNeil. Chris was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend, who possessed a strong faith. She will be remembered for her quiet strength and calming influence. She will be deeply missed, especially by her loving sons who acknowledge that Chris made them grow into the people they have become and of whom she was so proud. Visitation for the late Chris MacNeil will be held at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Tuesday, June 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony Daniel church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Donald MacGillivary officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Fatima House, Heart and Stoke Foundation or a charity of choice.
