Isabel Joyce Aucoin

84, New Waterford It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joyce Aucoin, Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Glasgow, N.S., she was the daughter of the late John G. and Myrtle (Williams) Blackwood. Joyce enjoyed baking, woodworking, sewing and playing cards. The last number of years, she especially enjoyed playing darts with her many friends at the New Waterford Pensioners Club. She will be sadly and deeply missed by her children, Joe (Dian), Tom (Mary), Tony (Beverly) and Shane (Jennifer), all of New Waterford; also her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Blackwood, Markham, Ont., and Irene Dack, Fergus, Ont.; brother, Arthur (Pearl), New Glasgow, N.S.; sister-in-law, Sadie (MacKinnon) Blackwood; and lifelong friend, Alice Ryan. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul Phillip Aucoin, sister, Jennette, brothers, George Edwin, Kayo Fraser and Robert. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating Joyce’s life under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, N.S., 862-7500, will be held Thursday, July 3 at 2 p.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard/Mount Carmel Church with Fr. Paul McNeil officiating, burial to follow in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the Carmel Centre, all are invited. Our thanks to Dr. Stephen Farrell and nursing staff of the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital for the exceptional care shown to our mother during her illness. Special thanks to ward clerk, Simone, home-care workers and Doreen Corbett, for duty above and beyond. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
