62, Ben Eoin It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Norman MacKay which occurred Sunday, June 29, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Sydney, he was the son of Mrs. Vera (Long) MacKay, Sydney, and the late Norman MacKay. In his retirement years, he enjoyed fishing, travelling and the Rolling Stones. Norman is survived by his mother and stepfather, Vera and John MacKay; his loving wife, Eleanor (Blackwell) MacKay; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Castillo, Toronto, Ont., Donna (Andre) Moreau, London, Ont.; four grandchildren, Krysta, Jolene, Stephen and Jennifer; two sisters, Norma Lysecki, Sudbury, Ont., Carol MacKay, Sydney; as well as nieces, Heather (Darrell) Sidney, Marlene Lysecki and two nephews, Kent MacPherson, David (Meghan) Lysecki. Besides his father, Norman, he was predeceased by his brother, John Wayne MacKay. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, July 3, 2008, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with Pastor Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception to follow. Interment to take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery at a later date.
