Raymond William Jessome (Razor Fluff)

Passed on: July 10th, 2008

47, Mississauga/Formerly Glace Bay It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the sudden passing of Raymond Jessome July 10, 2008, at his residence in Mississauga, Ont. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of Theresa (nee Cook) Jessome and the late Frederick Wilson (Freddy) Jessome. Raymond had an active childhood in Glace Bay and played on many sports teams; his favourites being baseball and hockey. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish and a student at St. Michael High. He moved to Ontario in the late 1970s but never forgot his roots. Raymond’s laid back approach to life was a tribute to his Cape Breton culture. He often talked about moving home when he retired. Raymond was employed with Ampere Metal where he was known as one of the best line operator platers in the business. He lived a happy, active life with baseball, swimming, biking and bowling as his pastimes. He also enjoyed a good party. Raymond was an incredibly accepting person who was a friend to all and a true friend to many. Raymond was predeceased by his father, Freddy in 1977 as well as paternal grandparents, Wilson and Lila Jessome, maternal grandparents, Bill and Mary Cook, and aunts and uncles. He is survived by his mother, Theresa Jessome; his brother, Leo Jessome, sister-in-law, Sylvia ‘Sis’, all of Glace Bay; his ‘bro’ John Walker (Chrissy), Brampton, Ont.; niece, Trish O’Brien (George), Sackville, N.S.; nephews, Dan Jessome (Joan Marie), Irma, Alta. and Leo Jessome (fiancée Pam Geddes), Enfield, N.S.; greatnieces, Faith and Alyssa; greatnephews, Tyler, Christopher and Jordan; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins from Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Ontario. Raymond also had a family of friends in Ontario who were all very special to him. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to honour Raymond will take place at Andrews Community Funeral Centre, Brampton, on July 15 at 2 p.m. Funeral will be Thursday, July 17 at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Church, New Aberdeen, Glace Bay, with a committal service at St. John’s Cemetery followed by a reception at St. John’s Auditorium. We miss you, we love you and we will “see ya later, Bye.”
