Gerald James 'Fitz' Gorman

57, North Sydney It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Fitz, age 57, on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late John and Cecilia (McMullen) Gorman. Fitz was employed as a stevedore with Marine Atlantic for over 30 years and also drove tractor-trailers for local companies. Throughout his life Fitz loved playing hockey and baseball. Fitz touched the lives and hearts of everyone who knew him, especially family and friends in North Sydney. Fitz is survived by his wife, Sharon (Gale); his only son, Jerry (Bonnie); his two daughters, Wendy (Jody) Porter, Trisha (Joe Chaisson); his six grandchildren whom he adored, Haley, Kalle, Ryan, Baby Joe, Dylan and Luke; his only sister, Sharon Marshall; his only brother, Daryl; his five nieces, Holly, Jenny, Emily, Diane and Kim; two nephews, Riley and John; his mother-in-law, Edna Gale and brother-in-law, Carter Gale. He was predeceased by a brother and sister in infancy and his sister-in-law, Collette Prince and father-in-law, John Gale. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Charles Coish and the nurses and staff of 2 West at the Northside General Hospital for their care and kindness shown to Fitz. Visitation for Fitz will be held today (Tuesday, July 15) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Pierce Street, North Sydney, with Rev. Arthur Nash officiating. Burial to follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
