GLADYS W. BANKS
BANKS, GLADYS W. - The death of Gladys W. Banks of Fredericton occurred on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at Pine Grove Nursing Home. Born in Millinocket, Maine, she was the daughter of the late William and Mabel (Smith) Hatch. Mrs. Banks was a member of the Nashwaaksis Baptist Church, where she was involved with both the Ladies Aid and the Women's Missionary Society. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Banks is survived by four daughters, Inez Hamilton of Saint John, Ruth Wilson (Charles) of Fredericton, Janet McElman of Gagetown, and Lois Hodnett of Fredericton; a son, Kenneth Banks of Upper Gagetown; 19 grandchildren; 24 greatgrandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Banks was predeceased in 1995 by her husband Charlie of 71 years; by a daughter, Leona Ashburne; a sister, Mildred Dezotell; and brothers Roy, Elmer, and Rev. Kenneth Hatch. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton North on Friday, March 14, 2003 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2003 at 2 pm from the Nashwaaksis Baptist Church, Edgewood Drive, Fredericton. Rev. Kevin Culberson will officiate, assisted by Rev. J. Paul Thompson. Interment will take place at a later date in the Douglas Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Gideon Bible Society, Pine Grove Nursing Home, or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
