GERALD WATSON BROWNING

BROWNING, GERALD WATSON - Presque Isle, Maine - Gerald Watson Browning, 83, died March 15, 2003 at a Presque Isle hospital surrounded by his family. He was born June 14, 1919 in River de Chute, N.B., Canada, the son of the late Hanford and Mary Jane (Watson) Browning. He grew up in River de Chute where he met and married Marie (Bishop) Browning. He owned and operated a trucking business in River de Chute before moving to Presque Isle in 1957. He and his wife were the owners of Browning & Watson, Inc. a plumbing and heating business. Gerald founded the Town & Country Apartments with his partner, Carl Litsch. He also built, owned and operated the Presque Isle Bonanza Restaurant with his partner Harold Haines Jr.. Gerald enjoyed horseracing and owned several racehorses with Halson Parks. He enjoyed hunting and fishing on the Tobique River and North Maine Woods with special friends Bryon and Madeline Dow. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marie (Bishop) Browning, four children, Joyce Saucier of Presque Isle; Judith and her husband William Littler of Rutland, Vt.; Gary and his wife Patricia of Presque Isle; and Constance Browning Jones and her husband Bob of Portland, Me., three special grandchildren Scott Saucier of Gray, Me.; Jennifer and her husband Jason Pillon of Rutland, Vt. and Jody Littler of Rutland, Vt., a sister Margaret Lockhart of Beardsville, N.B., Canada; several nieces and nephews; a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law Cameron and Dawn Bishop of Perth-Andover, N.B., Canada. Mr. Browning was predeceased by a beloved grandson Jeffrey Littler of Rutland, Vt. and brother-in-law Clifford Lockhart of Beardsville, N.B.. Dad loved having his family together, filling the house with good food and laughter, so in honoring his wishes, a family gathering will be held Monday evening March 17, 2003 at the Browning residence in Presque Isle. A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. Arrangements by Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
