JAMES DUKESHIRE THOMPSON

THOMPSON, JAMES DUKESHIRE - The death of James Thompson, husband of Verna (Buckle) Thompson occurred at his residence, Rocmaura Nursing Home on April 4th, 2003. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Alfred E. and Rosamond (Dukeshire) Thompson of Chance Harbour, NB. Educated at Mount Allison University, he joined the R.C.A.F. in 1937, served during World War II, and until 1947 when he received his discharge and accepted a position with the Federal Department of Fisheries in the Inspection Branch. Jim retired in 1977 after 30 years service. He was a member of Silver Falls United Church having served as an Elder, a member of the Board of Stewards and teaching Sunday School. He was a Past Master of St. John's Lodge # 2 F & AM, a member of Fundy Chapter # 34 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Lancaster Branch # 69 Royal Canadian Legion, a former member of 250 Wing Air Force Association, served on the Board of Directors, Saint John Branch Federal Superannuates, a former member of Beaus and Belles Square Dancing Group, Saint John Golden "K", and past president of Fundy Bay Senior Citizens Club. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter Barbara J. Thompson of Fredericton, NB, a sister-in-law, Muriel Thompson, nephews, David and Steven Thompson all of Chance Harbour, NB, several cousins and a close family friend, Sanford Henderson. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 7th, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. from Brenan's Chapel with Interment later in the spring at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
