Passed on: July 30th, 2008
(nee Boutilier) Anne Irene Ursaki (nee Boutilier) passed away in Vernon, B.C., July 30, 2008. Anne was born April 7, 1917, at Little Pond, C.B., N.S. She was one of 12 children of Howard and Nellie Boutilier. Anne was predeceased by brothers, Everett, Ralph, Bernard, Edgar, Dean and John, sisters, Florence, Theresa and Grace, all of Cape Breton. She is survived by sisters, Helen Clarke and Dorothy Fillier, both of Little Pond, and by many nieces and nephews. Anne always longed for the ocean, the mountains and the forests of Nova Scotia and she dearly missed her Cape Breton family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Frank; and two daughters, Lynne, son-in-law Brian Selinger and their children, Kris and Carolyn; and Kathryn and her daughter, Anne Hastings. After graduating from Provincial Normal College, Truro, N.S., she taught Grades 1-10 in her village school. Anne also taught at Florence and at Little Bras d’Or, N.S. During the Second World War, she was granted a leave of absence and was employed in the administrative offices of Foundation Maritime Ltd., shipbuilders, in Pictou, N.S. This was where she met Frank, whose Corvette HMCS Trillium, was in dock for repairs. After their marriage in Regina in 1946, she was employed for several years by the Regina Catholic School Board. She was active with the St. Andrew Home and School Association and was one of the original members of Holy Cross parish in Regina. Anne’s greatest joy in life was the love of her family, especially her grandchildren, Kris, Carolyn and Anne. She also enjoyed her trips home to Cape Breton, her winters in Arizona and many fishing trips to northern Saskatchewan with her family. Anne spent the last seven years of her life in nursing homes in Regina and in Vernon. A memorial service will be held in Regina at a future date in the fall. Flowers are gratefully declined. Arrangements are in the care of Vernon Dignity Funeral Home, 250-542-0155.
