62, Ontario It is with great sadness that the family of John MacDonald of 228 Lakeshore Rd., W. Fort Colborne, Ont., announces his passing after a short and courageous battle with cancer. John passed away quietly on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, in the company of his wife Donna and son, Michael in the Welland Hospital. Born on July 11, 1946, in North Sydney, he was a son of Jeanne (Regan) and the late Byron MacDonald. John spent his younger years in his beloved Cape Breton before joining the Royal Canadian Navy in 1964, where he began his career as an electrician. A lifelong member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, his work took him to many places across Canada before he and his family settled in Fort Colborne, Ont. John is survived and will be sadly missed by wife, Donna (Murray); sons, Michael and David, Fort Colborne, Bill (William) and wife, Tanya and John and wife Melissa, Prince Albert, Sask.; grandchildren, Trystan, Taylor, Jillian and Scotia; mother, Jeanne and brothers, Mike and Hugh, all of Halifax; family members, Don and Dave Murray, Sydney, Australia, Tara Grant and Audra Sterken, Acton, Ont., and Beverly and Ilanna Wise, Ohio. John was a member of the United Church of Canada and a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 19, The Orange Lodge and the Northern Yacht Club in North Sydney. Cremation has taken pace and a private service will be held at his home for his family and friends. Memorial donations to a charity of choice.
