Olive Isobel Crowdis Shaw

86, Louisbourg/Margaree Olive Isobel (Burton) Crowdis Shaw, 86, of Louisbourg and Margaree Valley passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008. Born in Margaree Valley, she was the daughter of Garfield and Olive (Philips) Burton. She loved spending time in her beloved home of Margaree, puttering around doing wood working (building furniture) and grooming her expansive gardens. Olive was active in the Eastern Star in her younger years and in later years, she enjoyed playing cards at Louisbourg Seniors. Olive was predeceased by her parents, sister, Lillian, first husband, George Jabez Crowdis and her second husband, Clifton Shaw. She is survived by her devoted children, Gwen (Joe Guillena), Sydney, Glenn Crowdis (Valerie), Sydney, and George Kimball Crowdis, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Bradley, Jeanne, Loribeth and Jody and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Christina, Shelbie and Kinnon. She is also predeceased and survived by many nieces and nephews from Mass/New Hampshire, St. Stephen, N.B. and Margaree Valley. Visitation will take place Friday, Aug. 15 from 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. An additional visitation will take place Saturday, Aug.16 from 1-2:30 p.m. in Wilson United Church, Margaree Centre. Funeral service will be held in the church at 3 p.m. Burial to follow. Reception after burial in the Wilson United Church Hall. The family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to the staff of the 3rd floor (Taigh Solas) Northside General staff for the wonderful care Olive received while there.
